Roasted ducks and chicken rice is the most common food during lunch.(maybe not duck but...) Everyone is off today because of Hari Raya or Eid, so we decided to go out for a family lunch. My grandmother showed us a newspaper cutting of this restaurant, Soon Lok. A restaurant that serves shark's meat that is quite new to us.
We book a table in the restaurant for lunch. Right on the dot, the owner called and asked whether we are coming. We were just around the corner then. We parked our car and went in straight to the restaurant. From far we could see many roasted ducks hanging through the glass stall. The whole restaurant was packed and there were some customers even waiting for seats outside. (No wonder the owner called us)
We sat down at the table reserved for us inside and they came with the menu
There were also customers coming for normal chicken, duck and roasted pork rice.
This is what we ordered,
Crispy Charcoal Roasted Duck, RM 20 for half and RM39 for whole.
This is the first and best dish, the skin is as thin as paper and when I took the first bit it was so crispy and the thin layer of fat filled my mouth with the rich aroma taste. The meat was so tender and soft.
Sauced shark B(RM15) S(RM10)
When this dish came, everyone was excited as this is the first time to taste shark's meat other that shark's fin in chinese weddings. The meat was soft and tender, not as i presumed that it would be quite hard and 'rough.' (cannot think of a better word to describe this) The sauce seeped to the meat well enough that gave it a rich flavour.
Claypot taufu B(RM12) S(RM8)
The sauce is rich in aroma and thick that suites me well enough. The japanese taufu was fried for just the right amount of time as it seems to have a skin outside and a smooth taufu inside.
Fried Shark's slice with 'Xei Ken'(celery) B(RM20) S(RM15)
I do not have any idea how they cooked this dish, the shark's meat had a splendid taste and the celery does not have the normal celery taste which i cannot accept. I ate a few pieces of it there(first time as well)
Special Spicy and Sour Mustard(dun really know this dish if it's not shown in the photo)
B(RM6) S(RM4)
The taste was OK good. It's just that the soup was a little too diluted for my liking
Assam Stingray B(RM20) S(RM15)
This dish came last when it should be first because has both spicy and sour that suppose to arouse our taste buds. It's not that spicy anyway
Name card and address of the shop(they have another branch in Bandar Puteri Puchong), recommended to all for lunch and dinner, either single or in groups. The duck was too good that we even packed another half home. The total bill only came up to about RM130 for the 8 of us, all adults. We had a shocked when the bill came.
